Email sent to students:
Hello everyone,
Once again I want to thank everyone that was able to attend our video meeting yesterday. It was really nice to hear and see everyone. (By the way, has everyone figured out how to mute and unmute their microphones?) A couple items I wanted to share with you today:
1) The easiest way to make a new CNN10 Google Form available each day is going to be to create a new assignment daily. I was hoping to avoid posting it so much and I thought we would be able to reuse one Form (but then all your daily responses would be jumbled up together). I want to reiterate that you are not required to watch CNN10 and read Morning Brew if you are feeling overwhelmed with the media. Quite frankly, I have taken some days off here and there.
2) Tips to help you log into Morning Brew if you need help troubleshooting:
Make sure that you are not using the school's email. It doesn't allow you to sign up for automated emails. Check with your parents/guardians first and use a personal email if you want to receive Morning Brew. https://www.morningbrew.com/daily/r/?kid=234b6358
Make sure that you have entered your email correctly on the Morning Brew site.
Make sure that you check all spam folders after you have signed up.
3) I will not be holding a video meeting today, but do plan on doing one tomorrow, April 9th. Please check back tomorrow for the link to that meeting.
4) I will be sending out a close reading activity via Google Classroom today so please take a look at that when you can. Make sure to read the instructions carefully.
Please email me with any questions.

Hi everyone,
I'm not sure why some students are having trouble accessing the "Anatomy of the Constitution student answers" doc. I have it set so each student receives their own copy.
Please make sure your device is not signed into any other email accounts other than your student email. Also, check to make sure there are no device or network settings preventing you from accessing files in Google.
If you continue to have trouble accessing documents, please do not hesitate to let me know and we will try to figure out a solution.
Thanks for your patience everyone! We can do this!

Good morning everyone,
I hope that you have had a chance to check in at CNN10 and Morning Brew. I wanted to thank you for the feedback on the Google Forms. I've been working on getting some of the kinks out and I know it would be a lot easier if we were physically in the same space, so I really appreciate your patience as I figure out the various settings.
REMINDER: Click https://www.morningbrew.com/daily/r/?kid=234b6358 if you want to get the Morning Brew newsletter in your inbox. Remember to ask your parents/guardians if you sign up on your personal account and, better yet, ask them to sign up on their email account so you can read it together. Recently, there has been a great Toy Story story and another with the headline Essential Workers Don't Feel So Essential.
Check it out and remember to leave comments in Google Classroom.

Hello all,
I hope everyone is doing well. I wanted to send you all an email to give some feedback and update you on class moving forward. The staff had a video meeting yesterday and we shared some ideas and got some clarification on our remote learning classrooms.
First, I want to thank all students that have been engaging and providing feedback via Classroom or email. I know it's not always easy to get internet access with everyone at home. I want you to know that while I will continue to provide assignment deadlines, students should still pass in all work completed regardless of deadlines. (Get it done when you can.) Though important, deadlines are something that will continue to remain flexible while we are physically out of school.
Jupiter - I will begin to use Jupiter again to provide better feedback on assignments. Please make sure to read any comments that are there.
While I don't think I will be doing any lessons via video conferencing, I will probably be posting videos more frequently than planned (as well as some audio files). I'm not opposed to setting up some video conferencing within classes if people want to say Hi, but I don't feel it's the most efficient way to communicate with a group.
Google Classroom - I am going to set up message boards within each Google Classroom as a way to ask questions "in class" so that everyone can benefit from the question and answer.
CNN10 - I don't know about you, but I need some Carl Azuz in my life. I'm not exactly sure how I want to proceed with CNN10 yet, but probably through a message board on Google Classroom. More information to come.
Morning Brew - I know your student gmail won't let you sign up, but if you wanted to sign up with your personal account (AND your guardian's approval), please use my referral code https://www.morningbrew.com/daily/r/?kid=234b6358 (Also, please share the link with your parental guardians as well. They may be interested if they do not already get the newsletter.) Not that Carl does a bad job with the news, but Morning Brew has really helped me understand how global issues affect the economy on a deeper level. Check it out!
Getting away from the screen - Hopefully you have already seen Advisory/Team challenge from Ms. Nichols, but here's the link just in case. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdMWrLFq8iIN5Dsi_lNX-DjOFlvLaIqlxURzkoaucRO2Azp8Q/viewform?usp=sf_link
And if you're still reading, I'm going to share the Gardening Club code for Google Classroom. I have been making some videos that I will be posting soon; and, if you are gardening, I'd like to hear from you, too! Here's the code:

Hi Everyone,
Please check Google Classroom or my website for a set of notes to compare to yours (regarding the "A New Plan of Government" Google form).
Also, see the picture below and head to https://www.icivics.org/login and register as a student. While I will continue to post iCivics lessons in Google Classroom and on my website, I encourage students to create an account on iCivics as I would like to assign some of the iCivics games as classroom assignments.
Please also note that I am compiling a list of Frequently Asked Questions on my homework website, as this is a new experience for all of us and will need to be fine-tuned as we progress.
I hope everyone is doing well. Please check Google Classroom soon for your next assignment related to the U.S. Constitution.
Miss you guys!

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to let you know that I have created a Google Classroom assignment to help us continue our lesson on the U.S. Constitution. We're going to start pretty small with a reading from the text and a Google Form to fill out after reading.
The use of Google Classroom will continue to expand. For instance, I'm thinking of adding a blog where people can post links to independent studies being done from home. As you know there are a lot of great resources out there and I think it might be a good idea to share what we are discovering on our own. A few of you have already emailed me to let me know what assignments and lessons you have given yourself.
For civics class, I am currently working on putting together some readings where we can take a look at primary sources written at the time the U.S. Constitution was being created. I have recorded some audio files that I am currently trying to move to my computer and get online. So more to come.
Please make it a point of checking your email a few times over the next week as I will be updating you via email and on my website at http://bschur.weebly.com/homeworkannouncements.html
I hope everyone is taking care of themselves.
Talk soon,
Mr. Schur
